Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate!
Well, I am travelling to Tokyo so I thought why not try to organize an instant film walk?
This is a joint event with Instant Film Society!
Are you in Tokyo or know an instant photographer who it? Invite them over!
So here it is:

So I was already making an integral film Polaroid Back for Mamiya RZ67. But it’s mounting sideways, just like the packfilm Polaroid back does, or like the short lived Impossible Lab based Rezivot Polaroid Back for RZ67 was.
And I thought that hey, that’s what’s possible, pods down normal orientation not possible. Last time I trust other’s people design choices, cause low and behold, I finally listened to pesky customers and got back on the design horse and yes, I have a working prototype, and with a surprise recycled vintage part for the dark slide!
No sneak preview of the back, I’ll launch it at Polacon NYC 2025, but here’s the second shot I took with it. Note to self, _bellows factor_, this is as close at the 100mm 2.8 let me get to the clover in the garden, at F:4, cause full sun.
I’m happy with it, yeah :D.

Things in the pipeline in 2025:
I received some questions about making an Instax Mini back for Mamiya 645 Pro. Well, it’s coming, not sure when, but I bought a M645 Pro TL to make it. It really works like that, sadly, I can’t make a back for a camera I don’t have. I also received some inquiries about Bronica etsi, but that’s probably not happening, just not enough of a market.
An instax wide back for the Polaroid Miniportrait 203 is still in the works and I hope I’ll be able to finish this year.
Also this year, I will probably port all my Polaroid backs to use newer film processing units and thus completely move away from Impossible Labs. I will still make conversion kits for IP Labs, for all the camera systems I’m currently producing those for: RB67, MUP/P600SE, and Fuji GX680.
Happy Instant 2025 to all!
Some customers have reported light leaks coming from the dark slide slot in some Polaroid Backs I made in 2023/early 2024. All backs made since are already incorporating the fix below as a precaution.
Luckily, they are fully fixable, but they do require either I/you install a brass strip to seal the dark slide slot better.
Contact me if your back has light leaks, from the dark slide or otherwise (there are other potential sources).
For this particular case, here’s the help video.
Yay, I fixed the little annoying light leak I discovered post beta testing in the RZ67 Polaroid back and I am now resuming shipping, the first two orders are out the door on July 5th!
Also resuming work on the RB67 nextgen backs, shipping order 3 of 7 (first batch) on Wednesday as well, and with a little luck, even 4 of 7.
All remaining first batch orders should ship by end of next week (July 14th).
Wait is over.
Visit the Candy Store for the new Mamiya RZ67 Polaroid Back or for the Next Generation Mamiya RB67 Polaroid Back !
I am taking orders for the first batch of these, with a lead time of approximately 2 weeks from order date.
So a customer in Japan asked me if I can show him how to make a pack, cause mailing anything overseas is so darn expensive now and I made a short video, and it’s now a Rescue Me page! This one’s for you, Massa!
I’m catching up with the Hasselblad Instax Square back orders, shipped 2 and 2 more to go out by the end of this week.
My instax wide manual back is on hold pending time to finish the design. As well as the conversion to using Itype cameras for Polaroid backs, the same lack of time.
But lo and behold, two new things on the pipeline:
1- a dslr scanning adapter for film from 35mm to 6×8 (separate masks for each film), with a manual film feed using rollers. This is already done and printed, in testing phase, I’ll probably put it on the market in late February 2022. I will price it substantially less than existing adapters on the market. Sure, it’s mostly all 3d printed, but it should work fine. – PS working on a 4×5 holder as well. You’ll need to use your own lightsource, but I don’t see that as a major problem. Planning to use a simple LED panel for start.
2- an integral Polaroid Back for Fuji GX-680 cameras. This is a special project and really in the early design phase. It’ll probably _not_ reach infinity focus with most native GX-680 lenses, but may if using 4×5 lenses on the camera. Stay tuned, I’m really excited about this one.
Well, in the process of making the latest build of a Polaroid 110B/Instant Wide , I discovered a way to make the eject automatic!
You press the eject wired button on the back (currently the flash button) and voila, automatic eject!
Order one now!
