Many thanks to Tim Mannion (customer who purchased the MUP version) for suggesting a tripod adapter that’d allow mounting in Portrait Mode (look for a “Mamiya tripod adapter type P”). Another option I found is the “Mamiya Tripod Adapter N-2 F/ 645 Pro”, I’ve actually purchased the latter for my MUP and can confirm it offers enough clearance when coupled with a Compact Manfrotto RC2 Ball Tripod Head.
